Union Street Café, the highly anticipated new venture from Gordon”Ramsay, is set to open on the 16th”September in London’s thriving SE1 district.
Converted from an old warehouse on the corner of Union”Street and Great Suffolk Street, the restaurant will specialise in seasonal Mediterranean ingredients, with an emphasis on speciality produce sourced from Italian artisan producers.
The restaurant’s interior has retained many of its original features – the shutters, windows and columns attributing the space with a raw, urban aesthetic. With designs from”Russell Sage, inspiration for the decor stemmed not only from the Mediterranean, but also from London’s East End. Leather and steel elements thus combine with eclectic vintage Italian seating to create a truly original feel.
The downstairs bar, meanwhile, provides a more intimate, relaxed space where visitors might like to sample the restaurant’s classic Italian or London-inspired cocktails.
“It’s no secret that Borough Market is one of my favourite places in London,” says Gordon Ramsay. “It’s an area where people are really passionate about food and we’ve invested time in finding the right venue. It is an amazing space and we’re really excited about opening.
“There will be a real focus on the most amazing produce, cooked in a simple Mediterranean style in a relaxed setting.”
